Chevy Silverado 1500 Trouble Code PO442 Gas Cap Replaced

2003 Silverado 1500 Trouble code PO442. I replaced the gas cap, but the EVAP monitor won't complete.

I got a new gas cap and my code reader give's me a incomplete on evap system. this trouble code PO442 has not returned however.

Answer:

The EVAP monitor might take some time to run and set. Insure your gas tank is always (and only) 1/4 to 3/4 full until the monitor runs. It could take up to 300-400 miles, and 1 to 2 weeks of driving until it shows ready. We recommend driving in a variety traffic conditions; freeway, city, stop-and-go. Avoid sharp turns and hills.
