Your Acura should only need a "regular" smog check for the purpose of re-registering it. When its biennial smog check time comes around the DMV will designate which type of smog check your vehicle will need.
BTW... should your car (for some reason) need a Test Only smog check now, when you visit a regular smog check center they will not be able to smog check it. The smog machine will tell them the vehicle requires a test only inspection.
