No Catalytic Converters for 2005 Mazda 6 3.0L

With a wholesaler we bid on the above car. It now needs to be smogged (it passed on 5/31/16) but codes are looking like it needs new catalytic converters. I can't find any anywhere. If they aren't made do I still need to comply? How?

Answer:

California has a Part Locator service which might be able to help you find a catalytic converter for your Mazda 6. If they are unable to find a new CAT, either factory or aftermarket, they may be able to issue a "Limited Parts Exemption". In most cases the needed parts are found. You may contact the State Smog Check Parts locator by calling 800–622–7733.
