1998 Chevy P30 454 Motorhome California Approved Catalytic Converter

California approved Catalytic converter for 1998 Chevy P30 Motorhome with 7.4L (454).

I just passed smog check so that was good, but every once in a while especially while towing up a grade my check engine light will come on. I had it checked out and my mechanic said the cats were going bad. I replaced all 4 O2 sensors at that time (6 months ago)I would like to replace the cats but I cannot find a CA approved cat anywhere not from aftermarket and not even the dealership. What should I do if a CA approved cat is not available for my RV?

Answer:

You might be able to use the CAT designed for a 1998 Chevrolet G-Van G10/G20/G30 or Express. After all the engine design should be identical to a P30 equipped with a 7.4 liter engine.  Tier 1 CAT (EFN: WGMXA07.4201) .

MagnaFlow and CATCO both make aftermarket Catalytic Converters for a Chevy G30 with a 454.

Check with a California State Smog Check Referee for details. You can reach them at (800) 662-7733.
