How can I find out if my 1990 Geo Storm GSI is Federal or California emissions equipped?

Does my 1990 Geo Storm gsi have federal or california emissions? The VIN number is J81RT2357L7xxxxxx).

Answer:

You will have to contact the Geo or Chevy dealership. We recommend actually visiting the dealships's parts department. They will be able to enter the VIN into their computer system and give you the emission type. The simplest way to figure this out (if the hood label is not missing), is to read the underhood emissions label. It will indicate whether your Geo is 50-State Emissions Certified or 49-State Emissions Certified. 50 State will indicate it has California required emission components.
