I own a 1999 Dodge Ram Pick up. How often do I need a smog check?

I bought the truck last year and had it certified as complient with the State of California smog requirements. It is time to re new my registration, and the DMV is asking for a smog certificate (again). Do I need another smog check, or do I send in last year's certification?
