1994 Toyota Pickup 49 state emission sticker. Can it be registered in California.

A friend from out-of-state wants to give me his 1994 toyota pickup. I live in California and noticed the "49 state" sticker. Is there any possible way for me to get this registered? Can I make it smog check compliant?

ANSWER:  

You can register this out of state Toyota Pickup in California so long as the trucks exhaust emissions pass the California smog inspection.

The emission test in California is strict, however a well maintained vehicle should be able to pass the smog test.
