2000 Buick LeSabre - Water in Smog Air Pump

Why is water getting into my Buick's air injection pump. My car is a 2000 Buick LeSabre with a 3.8 liter engine and smog pump. I think the air pump is electric.

Answer:

Water getting into your Buick LeSabre's smog pump is not normal. In fact we can't imagine how water would get to the smog pump. The only thing that could be the culprit is either water condensation in the smog air pump or a heat gasket leak which is so severe that water from the coolant passages in the engine block is making it's way to the air pump from the plumbing between the air injection pump and exhaust manifold ports. Keep in mind however that if a head gasket problem is this cause of water getting into the air injection pump or smog pump, your Buick should be running very poorly.
