1997 Ford Escort, lost smog check certificate. Want to sell this car.

I smogged my car last year (1997 Ford Escort), but lost the receipt. I have sold the car, but am now told by DMV I need to provide the buyer with that darn receipt in order to transfer registration. How can I get a copy/duplicate?
