Failed Smog Test

I have a 1988 Chrysler Le Baron that I want to retire to the state.

I have a 1988 Chrysler Le Baron and I was looking up the Vehicle Buy Back Program, my car no longer runs and i am positive if I get it towed to a smog shop it will fail but i would rather not pay for the tow both ways. I am a college student and i need a job and a car to get back and forth from school and home, not having a car makes getting to college and finding a job very difficult. Do i need to get it failed if i know it will fail and also is the the form i need to get in order to do this program online.

Answer:

You can retire your Chrysler to the state at any time and for any reason. They will pay $1000.00. You don't have to get a smog check first, however... Your Chrysler does have to be running. You can not tow it to the CAP certified dismantler.
