Jeep Liberty Sport P0867 Transmission Line Pressure Low

2002 Jeep Liberty Sport 3.7L, my check engine light code reads: P0867 Transmission line pressure malfunction, and P0868 transmission line pressure low. What is the part and How can I replace the it?

Answer:

2002 Jeep Liberty Sport OBDII Trouble Code P0867 LINE PRESSURE FAULT

(Both P0867 and P0868 are related, and usually are set simultaneously)

The TCM continuously monitors actual line pressure and compares it to the desired line pressure. If the difference between actual line pressure and desired line pressure is 10 psi (.7 kg/cm2 ) or greater, DTC P0867 will set. Transmission system will default to open loop line pressure control resulting in a fixed solenoid duty cycle. This duty cycle will change slightly depending on temperature and current gear. The following items may be area of concern: Intermittent wiring and connector problems.

First and foremost we recommend making sure your Jeep Liberty has the proper level of transmission fluid. Check and adjust fluid level as necessary. Fluid level may not show on dipstick if transmission temperature is less than 50°F (100°C), even though transmission has an adequate fluid level.

Next you should check for faulty wiring or connections. If both wiring and fluid level appear fine, you may suspect a faulty TCM (Transmission Control Module).

2002 Jeep Liberty Sport OBDII Trouble Code P0868 LINE PRESSURE LOW

Check for proper transmission fluid level, plugged transmission fluid filter, intermittent wiring and connector problems, pressure sensor calibration, internal transmission problems, poor line pressure sensor connection, pressure sensor circuit shorted to ground (or shorted to voltage or open), and finally a possibly faulty TCM.
