Failed Smog Test

Jeep Cherokee failed MIL check engine light OBD P1756 trouble code.

I have a Jeep Cherokee 1998 & failed smog check on ECS MIL/check engine light. The trouble code OBD FAULT CODES = P1756 Manufacturer Specific Code. I want to find the specific part I have to buy to change and pass the smog test RE-TEST.

Answer:

Trouble Code OBD II P1756 indicates a malfunction with the governor. Governor pressure is not equal to required pressure specifications. The repair requires removal of the transmission pan and replacement of the Governor Pressure Solenoid. These parts will be available at an auto parts store which sells to mechanic shops and/or the Jeep dealership. Our first and foremost recommendation would be to check your transmission's oil level and ensure it's normal. P1756 can be caused by driving will low transmission oil levels.
