Ford Aerostar - Smog failure when trying to sell it.

My nephew in the process of trying to sell his 1984 Ford Aerostar van in order to purchase a new vehicle. The van is currently registered, running and insured but he does not believe it will pass the smog test. It is our understanding that he is responsible for the smog when he sells it. If it does not pass smog would he then be eligible for the buy program?


Answer:		It is true. The seller has the responsibility of providing a valid smog certificate at the time of sale. As far as the buy back program... so long as his Ford Aerostar is currently registered, he is eligible for the buy back program regardless of whether the van passes or fails a smog check. posted by SmogTips Support
