General Smog Check

Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) malfunction and passing a smog inspection.

I recently changed the steering wheel on my car and my air bag light is on (SRS) I do know that the air bag doesn't effect the smog check but I was told that it would not pass with this light on. I do plan on fixing this issue but tight on money at the moment and I need to get the smog done so I am not driving with expired tags. Any feedback would be highly appreciated.

Answer:

If in fact the illuminated light is the SRS light and the SRS light alone, it will not cause a smog test failure. The smog check process does not inspect a vehicle's SRS system.
