Nissan pickup Trouble Code P1447 Not registered yet.
1997 Nissan 4WD pickup 4cyl XE. Bought truck Nov 2010- registered truck at AAA without smog cert as seller had recently bought and then sold to me...at time check engine light was on, hand held scanner showed code p1447 which is general evap system failure- registration expired in Sept 2011 without resolve to said issue...now 7 months later im interested in paying a mechanic to diagnose and fix evap problem- according to him, once a limit of $450 is reached, they are to stop and issue me a waiver to enable registration at the dmv- does this sound right? i owe approx $200 in late DMV fees but am willing to pay as i want to keep and drive the truck- thanks for your time

The $450.00 CAP smog check exemption does not apply in cases where there is a title transfer involved.
