1975 GMC Jimmy Factory Emissions Equipment

Is there a website that I can look up what my 1975 GMC Jimmy (6300lb GVWR) had for factory emissions equipment?

I don't want to spend well over $100 for a Mitchell Emissions Application Guide.

I am unclear on EXACTLY what 'exempt' means for 1975 and older Vehicles in California. I have a 1975 GMC Jimmy. It not only has a 6300lb GVWR but it is also clasified as 'exempt'. Would You please explain specifically what 'exempt' means? Is there someplace I can find the specifics of 'exempt'?

Answer:

Last question first... "Exempt" for all practical purposes means being exempt from the California smog inspection process. 1975 and older vehicles are not required to undergo a smog test for registration purposes.

A 1975 GMC Jimmy with a 454 engine came equipped with two different emissions configurations; one for California and one for 49-state legal (FEDERAL).

CALIFORNIA - PCV, AIS, ACL, EGR

FEDERAL - PCV, ACL

PCV = Positive Crank Case Ventilation Valve

ACL=  Air Cleaner Pre-Heat Duct

AIS = Air Injection System (Pump Type)

EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve
