A 1983 Mercedes Benz 380sl does require an EVAP test during the smog check. All vehicles 1995 & older cars need to have the EVAP system tested during the smog check. The exemption applies to dual tank vehicles and vehicles which have EVAP line not accessible without the removal of body panels.
