Dodge Durango Paid Registration over 60 Days Late

I own a 1999 Dodge Durango and paid the registration renewal over 60 days late. Due to a financial hardship and not receiving my renewal notice, I was forced to pay my registration fees late (about 90 days instead of less than 60).

My Dodge Durango failed the smog check due to a check engine light with a 0420 code which according to my research could be an oxygen sensor or a bad catalytic converter. My problem is I do not have the money to repair the truck in order to pass the smog inspection and because I paid so late I am not eligible for the CAP program. Is there a way around this?

Answer:

We can only recommend you contact CAP at (866) 272-9642. We have not heard of exemptions being made, but it won't hurt to ask. Technically since your Dodge Durango had its registration lapse for greater than 60 days, your truck is not eligible for the Consumer Assistance Repair Program.
