2008 Honda Fit Just Moved to CA from Minnesota

Does my car (Honda Fit) need a smog test before I can register/get new plates at the DMV in California?

Answer:

Yes, in order to complete your Honda Fit's vehicle registration process in California you will need to obtain a passing California smog check certificate. Any smog station can accommodate your vehicle; STAR certified or regular. Simply visit a smog station and advise you have recently moved to California and need to obtain a smog check for initial California registration purposes. No engine modification is required when attempting to register a used out-of-state vehicle.
