Smog Exemption for Gifted Out of State Vehicle from Family

I am being given an out-of-state vehicle from a family member as a gift. Do I still qualify for a smog check exemption, or will I not qualify and need to get it smog tested?


Answer:		The Family Title Transfer Smog Exemption only applies to vehicles which are currently registered in California. A gifted or bought out-of-state vehicle from a family member is not smog check exempt.
