Does 1997 Diesel GMC Van Need a Smog Check?

I have a question, I'm interested in buying a used 1997 GMC utility master step van but it's diesel. I've never had a diesel truck. I've noticed diesel does not require a smog test. Does this model year diesel Gmc van need a smog check? Thank you.


Answer:		1997 is the cut off year for the diesel smog check exemption. 1997 and older model year diesel vehicle's do not need to undergo a California smog inspection at this time. posted by SmogTips Support
