Vehicle Registration

My Car is a Gross Polluter Can I Still Get It Registered?

My car failed the smog check as a gross polluter. It was last registered a few years ago. Can I still get my tags?

Answer:

A vehicle can not complete the California vehicle registration process until it passes a smog inspection. You may however be able to get temporary tags from the DMV while you're repairing your vehicle. Visit a local DMV office and request temporary registration tags. A fee may apply.
