Smog Testing Out of State To Confirm Passing

I'm buying a car from my brother who lives in Texas. I want to make sure it will pass a smog test in California before I bring it over. Can he take it to a local shop (in Texas) for an emissions test. What should he ask for? I know its not official but I want to know before moving forward.


Answer:		The emissions test in Texas is similar to that of California's. Ask your brother to take the vehicle in for an emissions pre-test.
