The TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitor System) will not cause a smog check failure. The TPMS light can be ON and your Dodge Durango and it still pass the smog inspection. It is not uncommon for vehicles to have an illuminated TPMS light due to low battery levels in either one or more of the tire monitors. It's important to note that even the spare tire's pressure is monitored. Before concluding that one of the drive tire's has a bad battery or defective sensor, check the spare tire for proper and correct tire pressure first.
