Technically yes, you do have to smog check your Ford Escort first. However
most often the dealership should they choose to trade in your vehicle, will
charge you a smog check fee and take over the smog test responsibility. You
want to verify this with the dealership, but typically this is how it works.
We should not also, that most often the fee they charge for their smog check
is much more then what you could pay yourself for a smog inspection. Speak
with the dealership regarding this matter.
