Failed Smog Test

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with K&N Air Filter

My truck has a aftermarket K&N air intake and they told me it failed because there was no sticker from the California emissions. Can I get the sticker from K&N?

Answer:

You might be able to get a sticker from K&N, but the quesiton is... is this air intake 50-state legal? Contact K&N to find out, and if the component is legal for California street use, simply print out the documentation and present it to the smog technician.

If it turns out that the unit is not legal in California, you'll need to replace it with an OEM air intake in order to pass the inspection.
