Emissions Component

1980 Chevy K10 350 engine change and smog pump problem.

Hi, Ive been having some major problems getting my K10 roadworthy. I took it to emissions in the first place and apparently my truck used to be an I-6 but has a good wrench crate 350 in it now. So they want to test this truck by the standards of the truck not the motor. So I have to custom do a smog pump. I got a kit for it, but I have aftermarket tube headers which dint align with the tubes that go into the headers. So I could either get stock headers and redo my exhaust which I just got redone, with cats, for my long tube headers. My local shop is saying they could possibly custom fit some components to make it work. Any ideas what's cheaper and the best roadworthy idea?I'm a 17 year old on a budget with limited tools haha...

Answer:

This is going to be tricky and there's really no simple way around it. The best suggestion I have is to visit a local auto parts dismantler with as much information about your crate engine you can gather, and find a complete smog pump system to install on your engine.
