1976 GMC C15 doesn't need Catalytic Converter if over 6000 gvw.

Over 6000 was consider heavy duty up untill 78 (California) 79 (federal) when they raised the HD classification to 8500 gvw. If the vehicle is under 6000 gvw, then yes, it would have a cat. Over 6000 it would not. And according to the walker exhaust book, dual exhaust was an option that year without cats. This is in response to an answer on 5-22-11.
