1998 Dodge Ram 4x4 5.9L. Passes emissions portion but check engine light comes on.

Hi, trying to get me dodge to pass, it passed a year ago. Guy said emissions are fine but check eng. light is on. I believe its due to low compression in #1 cylinder. Code is "cyl one missfire". Is there ANYTHING I can do to get it to pass? I don't have the money to get into the motor. I tried replacing the #1 plug but that didnt work.


Answer:		There's not much you can do to correct a low compression problem. You can try to use heavy weight oil, or oils sold at auto parts stores which claim to improve cylinder compression, but depending on how low cylinder 1 compression is, they might not help... it is a start however. posted by SmogTips Support
