2003 Lexus - Malfunction light on. Possible electrical issue.

on drive to work, my 2003 lexus gx470 malfunction light went on as well as the VSC trac warning light right next to it. my husband believes that it's a blown fuse/electrical issue due to both flipping on at the same time and their close proximity on the dash. i plan to take to dealer to check and repair, but concerned about this being in the car's 'system' & light might remain on until a certain # of drives..and it showing up for smog check. i have 2 weeks until smog and reg. are due-if still on-do I ask for an extension/contact dmv or do I bring paperwork from dealer to smog check? am concerned and do not want any problems or attached fines for something I'm trying to get quickly resolved.


Answer:		If in fact an emission related repair is required to correct the fault(s) which have caused the MIL to illuminate, then yes, driving your Lexus will be required prior to having the smog test administered; in which case you'll need to visit the DMV with repair paperwork in-hand, and ask for an extension. posted by SmogTips Support
