Failed Smog Test

2003 Honda Odyssey - What's code P0740 TCC CKT Malfunction?

I bought a Honda Odyssey 2003, I want to complete the car reqistration. The smog check is not passing. First they told me it was a sensor and I replaiced it and now they told me it is the transmission. OBII MANUAL MODE SCREEN is giving this message:

P0740 TCC CKT Malfunction. Want can I do?

Answer:

The P0740 is usually the lockup solenoid on your Honda Odyssey's torque converter. The solenoid is located outside of the transmission. It could be that the solenoid is defective and everything else is good in the transmission. In a worst case scenario the problem can be caused by the torque converter. In either scenario, repairing this fault will be required in order to clear the trouble code and allow your Honda to pass the smog check. We recommend contacting the Honda Dealership to inquire on possible recalls regarding your vehicle Torque converter and/or solenoid.
