Emissions Component

I own a 1980 Chevy Corvette with the stock 305 engine and would like to do an engine swap.

I would like to swap the 305 engine for a GM crate smog legal 350 engine and use all of the stock components off of the 305 engine. Will this still pass the smog check if I don't modify anything else and use all of the stock parts on the engine swap?

Answer:

You can complete the engine swap, however you must find and use only emission parts which the 350 GM engine is equipped with. Swapping engine emission components of the 305 engine with a 350 engine will be considered an emission "tamper" and will cause your Corvette to fail the smog check. Remember... once the swap is complete an ordinary smog station can not inspect your Chevy. You will need a smog check referee station smog check the swap, and they will be looking deep into whether the engine swap was done properly and the correct emission components were used.
