Out of State Vehicle

2003 GMC Sierra 1500 from Oklahoma

I looked at this truck today 2003 GMC 1500). It came from Oklahoma and I was hoping you could tell me if it met the California Emissions Requirements. I read some where that Oklahoma does not or did not require smog tests.

Answer:

It's true, there is a difference with California legal and Federal legal emission requirements. And, for the most part California is stricter. However, a USED vehicle (such as this 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 from Oklahoma; which indicates it is 49-state emission equipped) which has all the Federal required emission components, can pass the California smog inspection process and be legally registered in this state as long as its exhaust emissions fall within California's limits.
