Failed Smog Test

97 Chevy Camaro Failed Because my Hoses were Not the Same?

Hi. I just failed the CA smog test. The smog inspector said all my hoses need to be the same to pass. Do you really need all hoses to be exactly the same?

Answer:

We cannot technically say, all the hoses have to be the same, but all the hoses DO have to be the "same or OEM" hoses the manufacturer and EPA requires. Fact is, passing the visual inspection portion of the smog check requires all emission components been connected correctly and functioning properly. Emission tampers are not allowed nor are mismatched or missing emission components (including hoses and vacuum lines).
