Do I Need a Smog Check When On Vacation in California?

I do not have smog checks where I live but areas near me do have. If I travel to another city or state that does smog checks would my vehicle be subject to one even though I am not a resident? What if I took a vacation to California, would I have to pass smog check to even vacation there?
