Failed Smog Test

1995 Honda Accord Disconnected Battery Drive Cycle

I have a 1995 Accord. I accidentally disconnected the battery and did a drive cycle twice according to the drive cycle description posted on this website. How do I know if i performed a completed the drive cycle? My car is registered in California and it failed Smog. According to the OBD1 code it has a heated Oxygen sensor A and B that flashes on my dashboard with no Check Engine Light(Code 1 & 2). I also replaced the O2 sensor and still get the code. I can't find any info on this make and year of car as to what to do after the drive cycle because the code still flashes.

Answer:

Hello Jon. Your 1995 Honda Accord is a OBD I vehicle (as opposed to OBD II). OBD I vehicles do not have emission monitors which need a drive cycle to complete. There is no drive cycle for your vehicle, nor a requirement to perform a drive cycle. What is required however is that the Check Engine Light or Service Engine Soon light not be illuminated. In this specific case, you'll need to diagnose the cause of the oxygen sensor error codes and repair the faults. Once the problem is fixed and repaired you'll be able to pass the smog inspection, assuming your Honda's emissions are below the emission cut score.
